Our long-time friends at Placer Food Bank recently organized the Run for Compassion, a 5k and 12k run/walk in Rocklin to benefit the 80+ local agencies that partner with the Food Bank to provide programs and services to the hungry and other disadvantaged populations in our area.
Besides raising much needed funds to support these agencies, the Run also proved beneficial by generating public awareness for its work, amping up its volunteer base, and increasing its donor database.
We respect organizations that are willing to think beyond the tried and true. So much so that we threw on our running shoes and some elf ears, grabbed some friends and ran as team Elevate's Elves. Even in Santa hats and knee socks, we managed to post some respectable times. We might run in these get-ups all the time...
